The couture designer Sarah Phillips, whose successful collections were featured by Henri Bendel, Saks Fifth Avenue, Fred Heyman, Neiman Marcus and many designer specialty boutiques across the U.S., and in Canada and Hong Kong in the late 1980’s – early 1990’s, is launching an impeccably tailored, modern and beautifully structured new collection for 2013-2014 season. She will be selling her new collection through exclusive arrangements with a select number of retailers and luxury brand websites, and to private clients.

In addition to achieving strong sales and a loyal client base, Phillips received worldwide acclaim for the gown she designed for Hillary Clinton for the 1993 Inaugural Ball; this gown is now on permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. After a hiatus, she has returned to her design studio to create a line of timeless pieces, silhouettes inspired by her keen structural sense and paired with luxurious fabrics manufactured in the premier mills in Europe and around the world– silks, laces, cashmeres, double-faced wools, cut velvet – and details such as Swavorski crystal, stainless steel or pearl buttons and pin-tucked seams. Her new collection presents a refined palette of color saturated navies, blacks, pewters, ice blue, charcoal gray, often punctuated with linings in fuchsia. All of them are manufactured in the U. S. and designed to work together.

Phillips describes her collection as “sculptural, streamlined, a bit dramatic. I love designing structured clothes because they look fabulous on almost any shape. If you are slender, they give you shape; if not, they are slimming and also give you shape. My collection is for a sophisticated modern woman of any age. There are pieces in my collection that a woman in her 20’s would wear – a little bolero jacket over fitted pants – that also work for a woman in her 70’s. I design clothes that I would love to wear.”

Before launching her first collection in 1989, Phillips attended the prestigious Parsons School of Design and as a versatile designer, worked for such important houses as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren in both men’s and women’s wear divisions.

Sarah Phillips new collection will be featured and available at select trunk shows in the NYC metropolitan area, and also at exclusive retail establishments, and online, in the U.S., Europe and Canada as of August 2013.
